An above ground pool liner usually needs to be replaced every ten
years or so because of the affect that weather and usage has on the pool liner. There are
basically four different kinds of pool liners for your above ground pool.
Overlap Liners:An overlap
swimming pool liner basically goes over the top edge of the pool wall and hangs down on the outside. Once you
install ityou will place coping strips over the lining on the top
edge of the pool. Coping strips are normally flat or tube shaped and hold the lining in place. This is the
most common and most economical way to install your above ground pool liner.
Beaded Liners:
Beaded pool liners have an edge that goes along the top of the liner. The edges snzp into a track that is
called the bead receiver and runs along the top of the pool wall. It is easier to install the beaded liner
the first time because you there is no guesswork involved and
for replacement because you will not have to disassemble the top of
the pool to replace the liner. You can easily convert an above ground pool from an overlap liner to a beaded liner.
J-Hook Liner OrUnibead Liners: The unibead or as it often called a J-Hook liner will fit any common above ground
pool. It is called a universal liner because it can be hung over the wall like an
overlap liner or it can be used as a beaded
liner. When using this pool liner as an overlap liner, you only
hang the J, or about an inch of vinyl right over the pool wall. It is very easy to install and no
beading receiver is needed. These liners are made for a given pool wall height with specific
dimensions.
If this liner is to be installed as a
beaded liner, you simply tear along the perforated or dotted line at the top of the pool liner and remove
the excess. Now its a beaded liner, and ready to install that way. If installing this liner beaded style you need
to be sure to have enough bead receiver on hand to make the conversion to a beaded liner for your
pool.
The J-Hook liners are easy to use and
enable swimming pool owners to have the more decorative swimming pool liners that have a top
border.
Expandable Liners: The
expandable pool liner is basically an extended length pool liner and can accomodate pools that are meant to
have a deeper end or deeper middle swimming area. An expandable pool liner will allows
for the extra vinyl needed for a deep end or deep middle swimming
area. This expandable pool liner will allow for an extra 2-3 feet of water depth and are most common in a
round pool.
Above ground pool liners are not only sold in basic blue but are now manufactured in many patterns
for your swimming enjoyment. You are not
limited to basic blue lining in an above ground pool cover
anymore asthey're many choices and patterns
available.
